How OneXafe Simplifies Data Protection and Storage

Data is the most important thing for any organisation, and protecting it from loss, corruption, or ransomware attacks is vital for business continuity and resilience. However, managing data protection and storage can be a tricky and pricey challenge, especially for organisations with heaps of unstructured data and backup targets.

That's why Arcserve offers OneXafe, a network-attached storage (NAS) solution that makes data protection and storage easier with its scale-out architecture, immutable object store, and cloud-based management service.

What is OneXafe?

OneXafe is a NAS solution that delivers scale-out storage for heaps of unstructured data and backup targets. It lets organisations easily add one drive at a time or multiple nodes in a cluster, without wasting storage capacity or doing forklift upgrades.

OneXafe combines the benefits of a distributed object store with the accessibility of SMB and NFS protocols. It also enables enterprise features such as global inline deduplication, compression, continuous data protection (CDP), and encryption at rest.

OneXafe can be used for various use cases, such as:
  • File server consolidation: OneXafe delivers a highly scalable, available, and easy to manage NAS solution designed to make storage management of unstructured data easier. OneXafe’s continuous data protection provides unified data resilience against ransomware or user errors, making sure that the information is always recoverable.
  • Data archival: OneXafe’s ability to scale capacity granularly makes it a breeze to cost-effectively manage the explosive data growth in healthcare, video surveillance, engineering, and other data-intensive environments.
  • Disk-based backup target: OneXafe's scale-out architecture provides a highly scalable, disk-based backup target for your virtualised as well as physical server environments—thus delivering scalability for your ever-growing backup data with the convenience of near-zero configuration of storage management tasks. Powerful storage reduction technologies such as inline and variable-length deduplication and compression ensure a cost-effective storage-capacity footprint.

OneXafe can also be integrated with Arcserve's data protection solutions, such as Arcserve UDP, Arcserve Backup, and Arcserve UDP Appliance, to provide unified data resilience.

How does OneXafe make data protection easier?

OneXafe makes data protection easier by providing immutable storage for backup. OneXafe's file system is based on an immutable object store, with every object written only once and never modified. Any change to the file system creates new objects.

OneXafe CDP takes low-overhead snapshots every 90 seconds. Snapshots are the view of the file system at the moment they are taken. Since the objects are immutable and cannot be changed, the snapshots are also immutable and cannot be modified by an external source.

Snapshots let you go back to specific points in time and recover entire file systems in minutes. You can also restore individual files or folders from any snapshot with granular recovery options.

OneXafe's immutable storage protects your data from ransomware or user errors, as it prevents any unauthorised changes or deletions by dodgy actors. Even if your primary data is compromised, you can always rely on OneXafe's snapshots to restore your data to a pristine state.

How does OneXafe make storage management easier?

OneXafe makes storage management easier by providing a cloud-based management service, called OneSystem. OneSystem is a multi-tenant service that lets you monitor and manage all your OneXafe devices from anywhere, using any device.

OneSystem provides a single pane of glass for all your storage needs. You can easily configure, provision, and scale your storage capacity with near-zero configuration of storage management tasks. You can also view real-time stats and alerts on your storage performance, health, and utilisation.

OneSystem also integrates with Arcserve's data protection solutions, letting you manage your backup policies, schedules, and retention from the same interface. You can also view your backup status, history, and reports from OneSystem.

OneSystem makes storage management easier by reducing complexity and operational costs for storage. It also enhances visibility and control over your storage environment.

Why choose OneXafe?

OneXafe is a NAS solution that makes data protection and storage easier for organisations with heaps of unstructured data and backup targets. It offers:

  • Scale-out storage that grows with your data needs
  • Immutable storage that protects your data from ransomware or user errors
  • Cloud-based management service that reduces complexity and operational costs for storage
  • Integration with Arcserve's data protection solutions that provide unified data resilience
